Arix for Mac BetaApple silicon · macOS 14 or later

Welcome to the beta. Thanks for being brave.

Arix for Mac is a private AI assistant that runs on your own Mac. Getting it going takes about ten minutes, and most of that is the AI model downloading while you get a coffee.

  1. Download

It lands in your Downloads folder.

Download Arix for MacFree. No key needed. · Latest beta
  2. Drag it into Applications

Open the downloaded file. In the window that appears, drag the Arix for Mac icon onto the Applications folder. Done; you can close that window.

  3. Meet your Mac's overprotective side

Double-click Arix for Mac in Applications. Your Mac is about to act like a parent meeting their kid's new friend: polite, suspicious, and not letting anyone in yet. That's because Arix is so new that macOS hasn't given it its official checkmark. Nothing is wrong. Here's what you'll see:

Click Done. Breathe. Arix is fine and so is your Mac.

Don't click Move to Trash. It sounds dramatic because it is. If you did, no harm done: drag it from the downloaded file into Applications again.

Now tell your Mac it's okay:

    • Open System Settings (the gear in the Dock, or the menu in the top-left corner › System Settings).
    • Click Privacy & Security and scroll all the way down to Security.
    • Next to “Arix for Mac” was blocked, click Open Anyway.
    • macOS asks for your Mac's password, the one you log in to this Mac with. That's macOS making sure it's really you saying yes. (Not an administrator on this Mac? Ask whoever is to type theirs.)
    • The grey line about malware is the same overprotective message as before: it says Arix hasn't been checked, not that anything was found. Nothing is wrong.
    • Leave “Allow applications from” as it is. No need to change it: Open Anyway lets in Arix only, and the rest of your Mac stays as protected as before.

macOS may ask one last time, “Are you sure?” It's sure. Click Open Anyway again. This happens only once: updates never ask for your password, and never show this message again.

  4. Set up, and add a license if you have one

Arix asks for your name and a password for Arix itself (a new one, just for Arix; it stays signed in), then sets up its AI. If it offers to install something it needs, say yes.

    • That's all you need. Free stays free on this Mac, for good: no key, no license, no account.
    • Want the whole office on it? Start the 14-day Team trial from inside Arix.
    • Have a Personal, Team or Site key? Open Settings › License, paste it under License key, and click Add license.
ARIX-1.eyJpZCI6… (a license starts like this)

That's it. Say hello. It's been waiting.

Other odd things you might see

“Arix for Mac” would like to access…
The microphone, your Messages, a folder: Arix asks before it touches anything, and macOS asks too. Allow what you want it to use; skip the rest. You can change your mind in System Settings later.
Do I type my password for every update?
No. Your Mac's password is needed once, at Open Anyway. After that, Update installs the new version by itself and Arix opens again, still signed in.
The first answer is slow
The AI is waking up and loading into memory. The first reply can take up to a minute; after that it's much quicker.
“Can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”
The same overprotective message in older words. Same fix: step 3.
Something just looks wrong
Very possibly a beta bug, and we'd love to hear about it. In Arix, open Settings › About › Report a problem…, or just tell Arix in chat: “report a bug: the button did nothing”. Serious notices have a Report this link too. Arix shows you exactly what it will send, and nothing goes until you click Send.

Stuck, confused or delighted? Report it from inside Arix (Settings › About › Report a problem…), or write to support@arixone.com. A screenshot helps.
