What Arix Link is, and adding a machine
Arix Link is a small program you put on the office's other computers and servers. With it, Arix can tell you how each one is doing, warn you before a disk fills up, and use the folders you choose. It sees and does only what you allow.
What it does
- Tells you if a machine is on, how full its disks are, and how its memory is doing.
- Warns you in Devices and with a notification when something needs you.
- Reads the folders you name, so you can ask Arix about what's in them.
- Checks its firewall, disk encryption and automatic updates.
It never sees what people do on a computer, and it can't be used to take it over.
Add a machine
- On the office computer, open Devices and click Add machines.
- Copy the one-line install command and run it on the machine.
- The machine shows up in Devices as New: connected, and walled off. Nobody can use it yet.
- Click Give it a profile to choose what Arix may see and do there.
A Mac that joined the office can also ask to be seen from its own Settings: see letting the office see a desk computer.
Profiles
- Health only
- Is this machine OK? Plus jobs an admin runs to free up space.
- Desk computer
- For a computer a person works at, Mac or PC: health, security checks and printers.
- Shared folders
- Health, plus the folders you name, read only.
- Desk computer + shared folders
- Both of the above.
- Docker server
- Health, containers and their logs, and a restart when you say yes.
- Custom
- The skills you pick.
Remove a machine
In Devices, open the machine and click Remove. Its key stops working at once, and it can't reach the office again unless you add it again.
