Install Arix for Mac

About ten minutes, most of it the AI model downloading. The full picture guide, with what each message looks like, is on Download Arix for Mac.

What you need

  • A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later.
  • Room for the AI model Arix picks for your Mac. Setup tells you the size before it downloads.
  • Nothing else: no account, no license. Arix is free on one Mac.

Download and install

  1. Go to arixone.com/download and click Download for Mac. It lands in your Downloads folder.
  2. Open the downloaded file.
  3. In the window that appears, drag Arix for Mac onto the Applications folder. You can close that window.

Open it the first time

The first time, your Mac stops Arix because it's new and hasn't been checked yet. Nothing is wrong, and this happens only once.

  1. Double-click Arix for Mac in Applications. Your Mac says it was Not Opened. Click Done, not Move to Trash.
  2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
  3. Next to “Arix for Mac” was blocked, click Open Anyway, and type your Mac's password when asked.
  4. If your Mac asks “Are you sure?”, click Open Anyway again.

Set it up

Choose Set up this Mac. (Joining an office computer someone already set up? Choose Join an office instead: see The office computer, and joining it.)

  1. Type your name and choose a password for Arix itself. It's just for Arix, and it stays signed in.
  2. Arix picks the AI models that fit your Mac and sets them up. If it offers to install something it needs, say yes.
  3. Say hello. The first answer can take up to a minute while the AI loads; after that it's quicker.

That's all you need. To use a Personal, Team or Site license, see adding a license.

Updates

When a new version is ready, Arix shows a line across the top of its window. Click Update. Updates never ask for your Mac's password and never show the first-time message again.
